Workin in the “Industry”

Happy Thursday friends! I hope to have some regulars returning today and I’m hopeful to have some new folks coming around as well! I’ve really missed writing. I don’t know why but I always feel like I have so much to share, so I’m gonna indulge in this urge to express. I’m so very thankful to have someone to share these posts with! In the post previous to my last, I summarized the last few years of my life that I haven’t kept up too well with entries. I’m going to touch on key points and changes that have happened since then in chronological order (the best I can anyhow) with some lil sprinkles of other significant stories that have occurred since returning to myself and my home states. We’ll begin with talking about my job working in the infamous 420 industry.

In December of 2022 after a few interviews and some footwork to obtain my MED badge, I accepted my offer letter and began working at a cannabis production company in Trinidad Colorado. I was thrilled to be getting a job in the cannabis industry and even more excited about working for a company whose products I consumed regularly for years prior (their chocolate was my fave). I was originally hired on as a production specialist in the topical department with a promise to grow and advance in the future. A dear friend had tipped me off about the job and the position available in her department, and I jumped at the opportunity. Our department fulfilled orders of bath bombs, salves, and body oils to the dispensaries within the state. It was a really cool environment to work in, I’d never experienced anything quite like it. It was a nice and clean facility, we maintained strict practices to ensure contamination free products, and consistent quality. I truly loved the work I did while in that department, and the bonus was rocking the scent of the essential oils we used hehe. I also had the pleasure of working with 2 other very like minded ladies alongside myself and our manager, our department had a lot of fun while at work, quite possibly too much fun. We worked well together and got along so well that work was pretty enjoyable, and working with THC and other cannabinoids was such a bragging point for me.

January 2023 I signed my first lease in well over a decade! I found a sweet new 2 bed 1 bathroom apartment that I could easily afford with my new salary. I didn’t need to move, I was well taken care of living with my Pa and Mama She and really didn’t have much to worry about at all. But I decided it was time to take the next step in my journey and secure a place of my own, and that’s just what I did 🙂  (I’ll have a whole entry about this chapter)

In April of 2023 I was moved from the topical department into the kitchen and trained to make edibles! Initially I was quite upset about having to leave my original department and my friends, and in time I would have to grow to accept the change. Thankfully I embraced this opportunity and was eventually thrilled that I’d be learning yet another new skill! This company made gummies in various flavors as well as multiple flavors of chocolate bars. I’m gonna do my best to limit the information I touch on in order to avoid identifying the company and avoid any sort of legal repercussions. I’m sure some people will be able to draw lines about what company I’m featuring and I can’t help that, however. This company was one of the top producers in the state and we worked with the highest quality of products. I was proud of the products we made and the careful processes I learned to make them as incredible as they were. I was completely absorbed in this new position and looked forward to learning more and advancing in the kitchen. Unfortunately I wouldn’t get that chance.

In July of 2023 my original department would be the first of the lay offs, and my dream job would be over in an instant. It all happened so fast and would be a major stressor considering I had uprooted from Raton and moved into a new apartment in Trinidad in order to be closer to this job. I worried I wouldn’t be able to find work that would pay enough to pay all the new bills I had taken on with this move. That same day after we left the meeting, the girls and I would meet up at a local establishment to process what had just happened. While we sat we were given free breakfast and a round of tequila all courtesy of the owner. It was a lot to process but there wasn’t much else that could be done, sadly we would be separated and have new paths to take moving forward. My next journey was quickly loading and there would be little time between losing one job to gaining the next. BUT I’m going to save that for another upcoming entry. You won’t want to miss these next few stories. Life really had so much in store right around the corner.

I’ll leave you with that cliff hanger for now and hope you return next Thursday to read the next entry in the saga that’s my life 🙂

I love you so much for spending your time here with me, it’s truly so special to me.

Until Next Time <3
